We are London divorce lawyers specialising in English family law including divorce, separation, cohabitation, civil partnerships, pre-nuptial agreements and most related issues, particularly where they involve children or money (including high value, complex and international situations) . We realise that these are sensitive issues: we try to handle them in a sympathetic, civilised and positive manner and by advising clearly and acting firmly and decisively to resolve them, if possible by agreement.
We are based in Bedford Row, London WC1 which is close to the High Court and the Principal Registry of the Family Division. We mainly handle cases in Central London and the Greater London area but if you live or work in, or close to, London we may also be able to act for you even if proceedings are taking place in another part of England or Wales. We may also be able to assist if you live abroad: we often handle international divorce cases where there is some connection with, or issue involving, England, but (in common with most other English solicitors) we do not give advice about the laws of other countries.
The firm was established in 1991 by David du Pré who was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1980 having earlier practised as a barrister . He is a member of Resolution (formerly known as the Solicitors Family Law Association), and the International Society of Family Law. Overall he has more than 30 years experience of divorce work during which time he has been involved in many demanding and often complex or unusual cases. He has an associate, Gaye Osborne, also very experienced in divorce work, who was admitted as a solicitor in 1982 and is also a member of Resolution and the Law Society's Family Lawyers panel. We were among the first firms to operate as a "niche" specialist divorce practice and believe that our clients welcome the "one to one" personal and confidential service and attention which this enables us to provide.
We have a broad range of clients but we are not in a position to undertake publicly funded (i.e. legal aid) cases. However we believe that our charges are competitive, and we have a reduced fee for the first hour of advice without obligation to instruct us.
If you would like advice we usually suggest a preliminary meeting. For more information or to make an appointment please contact us using the details below or by clicking on "Contact Response Form" above and completing our Contact form. Or, you may click on Email at the top left of this page/below.
